Barns by the Beach was started by Alice who grew up in Walcott. Alice enjoys doing converting and renovating properties, especially old barns, and wanted to share this wonderful place with others needing an idyllic holiday destination.
Walcott is a Norfolk coastal village positioned between Cromer and Great Yarmouth, offering excellent access to all Norfolk has to offer.
Walcott beaches are large and sandy, enhanced by a recent sand-scaping project in 2019 to try to limit the coastal erosion at neighbouring Bacton and Happisburgh.
The sand-scaping has resulted in large open sandy beaches with natural lows, perfect for paddling and soft access to the sea. Walcott sea front boasts excellent resources for visitors. A café, ice cream parlour, fish and chip shop, local shop, ice cream van and a family and dog friendly pub ‘The Poachers Pocket’.
Just along the coast road from the barn conversions there is another pub and café called ‘The Lighthouse Inn’, family and dog friendly, providing excellent meals, ales, or a perfect stop on you walk home from the beach for a coffee and piece of cake.
Barns by the beach properties are all a short walk to the beach across foot paths or quiet country lanes, however if you tire from the beach there are many other local attractions to keep you busy.
The Norfolk Broads are a short drive away for a day out on a boat/paddle board/kayak or whatever takes your fancy. Norfolk is also known for its excellent footpaths and wonderful country walks. We are lucky enough to host two fabulous National Trust properties, Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall, both of which boast excellent estates ready for exploring . There are many wonderful local artist exhibitions to fill your time with, or if you are looking for family fun there are many local attractions including: The Dinosaur Adventure Park, Hirsty’s Family Fun Park, Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach to name but a few.
